Junior Members are an important part of the development of the Gungahlin Lakes Golf Club.  A Junior Member will be accepted into the Club provided he/she has attained the age of 12 and has not attained the age of 18; or the GLGC Golf Committee may deem that a person who has not reached the age of 12 years be qualified to be a Junior Member provided the Club Professional certifies that such a person has the physical skills, maturity and knowledge of the game of golf to be a Junior Member (By Law 9). The Club encourages Junior Members to develop their golfing skills and offers group and individual lessons in school holidays and at other times as agreed between the Golf Committee and the Club Professional.  The Club also encourages Junior Members to play in District, State and National competitions and supports participation, both financially and personally. The Club has a Junior Development Fund and a Junior Golf Coordinator for this purpose.

Junior Golf Scholarships

Juniors aged between and 12 and 15 years of age can apply for a Gungahlin Lakes Junior Golf Scholarship. No previous golf experience is necessary as juniors will attend eight weekend group clinics to learn the game. A registration fee of $50 applies. At the end of the clinics juniors are assessed and may be offered a two year scholarship which provides free golf membership and free private coaching. Contact Murray Blair at the Pro Shop on 6242 4662 or mblair@igolfallday.com

Weekend Junior Beginner Clinics

Murray Blair, the Club Professional, conducts popular junior clinics on Sunday mornings in each school term. Young golfers start with the beginner clinics and then graduate to the advanced clinics for more specialised development. Contact Murray at the Pro Shop for further details.

Junior Member Holiday Programs

Gungahlin Lakes conducts free golf clinics for junior members in one week of each school holiday period.  Clinics for beginner golfers are also usually scheduled in the same week.  In each school holiday period the golf club also holds a Junior Medal competition – nine holes followed by the regular putting competition and a free lunch.
