As you are aware, COVID-19 or the Coronavirus, as it is more commonly known, has created global health concerns regarding the disease and its infection rates. Golf Australia has issued some advice to clubs which is now provided for your information.
Golf Australia has recommended to clubs and golfing facilities that advice from the Australian Government’s Department of Health should be monitored closely over the coming weeks, as well as that provided on the Australian Government’s Smartraveller website. Further simple, easy to understand advice is also available at – World Health Organisation’s advice for the public website.
They have noted that if members or guests have recently returned from China, Iran or have returned from a cruise holiday in the past 14 days, they have recommend that these people do not visit the club or golf course – until the 14 day period has elapsed. They have further recommended that that members or guests recently returned from South Korea, Japan, Italy or Mongolia and who are experiencing flu-like symptoms do not attend the club or the course for a period of 14 days, post their arrival back in Australia.
The Club’s committee considers it important that our members and their guests make themselves familiar with the advice available and act in accordance with this advice. Simply put, if you fall into any one of the categories mentioned above please stay away from the club and the course for the suggested period of time to assist in protecting the health and safety of all club members.
Golf Australia has said that they will be monitoring the situation and will provide additional advice as they see appropriate.
